Sabra's products include hummus, eggplant dips, babaganoush spreads, and Mediterranean salsa.

The Queens, NY-based company was founded in 1986 as Sabra Blue & White Foods and was then purchased by Yehuda Pearl. Pearl brought Sabra into the U.S. mainstream by orchestrating a campaign that increased interest in the healthy and delicious cuisine of the Mediterranean. Under his leadership, Sabra gained shelf space and market share in leading supermarket chains and wholesale stores.

In 2005, Sabra attracted interest from the international food company, Strauss Group, who purchased a majority share of the company. In March 2008 PepsiCo and Strauss Group formed a joint-venture partnership, which operates under the new name Sabra Dipping Company, LLC.

Eco-Friendly Efforts

At Sabra, we're not only passionate about helping you experience everything delicious the planet has to offer, we're passionate about helping the planet too.

We are steadfastly committed to sustainability and we've taken huge strides to make our company as eco-friendly as possible. Nowhere is that more evident than in the construction of our state-of-the-art plant in Richmond, Virginia. 20% of the building is constructed from recycled materials and almost all of the construction waste materials will be recycled. To make the plant as energy efficient as possible, we will implement innovative and eco-friendly designs like a reflective roof that cuts our cooling needs and heat recovery systems that cut our heating needs. In fact, at least 35% of the building's energy will come from renewable resources. That's equivalent to offsetting the yearly electricity use of 573 households a year!

Making an environmentally friendly factory doesn't mean much if you don't make environmentally friendly products. Which is why we've invested 3 years and 10 million dollars into new packaging for all of our products. Sabra's new packaging is made from 30-45% post consumer recycled plastic. That simple change itself saves 325,000 gallons of gasoline and 319 metric tons of carbon a year. All of which is proof that although our package lid may be red, we're doing a lot to be green.
